Fall is a perfect time for planting, and we need volunteers to help. Join LFUCG's Greenspace Trust and Lexington's Division of Environmental Services this Saturday, Oct. 26 to plant trees and native plants at Coldstream Park from 9 a.m. to noon.
Coldstream Park is a unique location along the Legacy Trail near Cane Run Creek. Litter often collects in the stream from busy nearby roads. Volunteers will help clean up litter along with planting trees and a pollinator garden. Adding more trees and native plants helps slow stormwater runoff and improve water quality.
"We're pleased to support this opportunity to get volunteers involved with planting trees and cleaning up litter near the Legacy Trail," said Alice Hilton, LFUCG Greenspace Trust member. "Cane Run Creek catches litter from many nearby sources, including the expressway, and we want to do everything we can to protect and improve it."
