Electric Light Parade Closures

On Wednesday, July 3, The City of Las Cruces 4th of July Celebration will kick off with the Electric 5k and Fun Run followed by the annual Electric Light Parade. The parade route begins at Apodaca Park, runs west on Madrid, South on Solano, East on Hadley Ave. and finishes at Meerscheidt Recreation Center, with the Electric 5k running the opposite route. The running event begins at 7:30 p.m. with the parade set to begin at 9 p.m. There will be parking restrictions and street closures throughout the route beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Apodaca Park will close, and all vehicles will be asked to vacate the premises around the park by 1 p.m. to begin set up for float staging, except for the pickleball area which will remain open until 4 p.m.

The Regional Aquatic Center (1401 E. Hadley Avenue) will be open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., holding an Open Swim Session noon - 3 p.m.

The Las Cruces Natatorium (1405 E. Hadley Avenue) will be open 6 a.m. - 11 a.m.

Meerscheidt Recreation Center (1600 E. Hadley Avenue) will be open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Motorists could encounter possible delays if operating in the vicinity of this event and may wish to consider alternative routes. The Las Cruces Police Department and Parks & Recreation Department want to remind motorists to proceed with caution as there will be increased pedestrian traffic throughout the area.
