Vehicle full of teenagers stopped by RCMP Traffic Services traveling 168 km/h on TCH near Glovertown

RCMP Traffic Services stopped a car traveling at an excessive speed on the Trans-Canada Highway near Glovertown on July 3, 2024.

Approaching dusk on Wednesday, an officer on patrol observed the car traveling 168 km/h and conducted a traffic stop. The vehicle was occupied by an 18-year-old driver and four others, all who appeared to be of a similar age.

The driver was issued a ticket for the excessive speed and a licence suspension. Additionally, the car, which was registered to a parent of the driver, was seized and impounded.

Parents of young drivers are encouraged to have discussions about safe driving practices. A situation such as this could have been tragic, resulting in the loss of life of the driver, the occupants of the vehicle and/or other motorists who share the roadway.

If you observe a vehicle traveling in a dangerous manner, please immediately contact your local police or 911 and be prepared to provide as much details as possible, such as the make, model, color and licence plate of the vehicle and its current location.
