State Police Investigate Fatal Motorcycle Crash on I-87

On July 6th, 2024, at 10:02 p.m., State Police responded to Interstate 87 northbound (at MPM 3.5) in the city of Yonkers for a reported motorcycle crash.

When patrols and EMS arrived, they discovered the operator, Osterman I. Cuevas-Campos, age 27, from Bronx, NY deceased on the shoulder of the roadway.

The preliminary investigation indicates Mr. Cuevas was operating a 2017 BMW motorcycle at an unsafe speed and failed to negotiate the curve in the roadway, resulting in him striking the guide rail. As a result of the impact, Mr. Cuevas was ejected from the motorcycle and struck the cement barrier located on the left shoulder. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation is continuing.
