NYSP patrol vehicle struck by drunk driver while Troopers were ar...

On September 2, 2024, Troopers out of SP Lockport arrested Richard L. Morrow, 34 of Lockport, NY for Driving While Intoxicated. Troopers also arrested Elizabeth M. Pursey, 25 of Buffalo, NY for Driving While Intoxicated and multiple traffic infractions.

On September 2, 2024, at 1:18 A.M., Troopers out of SP Lockport were patrolling on South Transit Road in the town of Lockport identified a stopped vehicle facing south bound in the north bound lane. Troopers observed the operator, Morrow slumped over the steering wheel. Troopers identified the smell of alcoholic beverage from the Morrow's Dodge Charger. Morrow attempted some SFST's and failed. Morrow was placed arrested and placed in the back of a marked NYSP patrol vehicle. Troopers were finishing the investigation and were struck by a 2022 Kia operated by Pursey. Pursey was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and transported to SP Lockport for processing.

The Niagara County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene. Morrow was transported to Lockport Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.

Morrow consented to a blood draw and was released on Appearance Tickets for a later date in the town of Lockport.
