The first strong storm system of the year is expected to arrive in Sacramento this week, bringing with it much-needed rain. City officials are urging residents to take proactive steps to protect their homes and neighborhoods from potential storm impacts.
"We're asking residents to prepare their homes and the areas around them," said Carlos Eliason, City Department of Utilities spokesperson. "Making sure storm drains are clear near you is one of the best ways to prevent street flooding."
Residents can do several things to prepare for storms:
"Our crews will be monitoring conditions during the storm to respond to issues that may occur, including clogged drains and clearing debris from sidewalks and roads."
Eliason says people can report storm issues - such as street flooding and downed branches - by contacting the City's 311 customer service center.
