MDHHS seeks proposals for substance use disorder treatment and recovery transportation services

LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has issued a competitive Grant Funding Opportunity (GFO) for providers to increase the availability of transportation services for individuals seeking or engaged in treatment, harm reduction or recovery support services for substance use disorder (SUD).

Funding is being made available through the Michigan Opioid Healing and Recovery Fund. Michigan is slated to receive nearly $1.6 billion from national opioid settlements by 2040, with half being distributed to the State of Michigan Opioid Healing and Recovery Fund and the other half being distributed directly to county, city and township governments.

It is a priority of MDHHS to reduce health disparities in overdoses and SUD treatment and recovery services. Grants are intended to encourage treatment and recovery service access and retention by serving target communities and underserved populations in need of services and support.

This opportunity is open to SUD treatment providers, recovery community organizations, harm reduction organizations, federally recognized tribes, Indian Health Services, Tribal and Urban Indian Organizations and SUD peer service organizations.

A total of $1.2 million is available in this RFP, with a maximum award of $200,000 per grantee. MDHHS anticipates issuing up to six awards.

Grant applications must be submitted electronically through the EGrAMS program by 3 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 26. The program period begins Feb. 1, 2025, and ends Sept. 30, 2025. Successful applications may be awarded continuing funding based upon funding availability and acceptable performance.

A pre-application conference will be held to discuss this funding opportunity and provide instruction on using the EGrAMS system at 9:30 a.m., Monday, Nov. 4. The conference will last approximately 90 minutes and can be accessed at https://bit.ly/485YQuH.

For more information or to apply, visit the EGrAMS website and select "About EGrAMS" link in the left panel to access the "Competitive Application Instructions" training manual. The complete RFP can be accessed under the 'Current Grants' section under the "Specialty Behavioral Health Services" link and selecting the "TSUDS-2025" grant program.
