Tuesday, 10 September 2024 09:11:52 AM

Police are appealing for information as they investigate a suspicious house fire at Merrylands overnight.

Emergency services were called to Dan Street about 12:40am today (Tuesday 10 September 2024), and found a two-storey home well-alight.

Four men, aged 23, 26, 52 and 55, who live in the share house, woke and were able to escape the home. The youngest man suffered a leg injury after jumping from the first-floor window; he was taken to Westmead Hospital for assessment.

Residents from neighbouring properties were evacuated as a precaution.

Fire and Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze; however, the home sustained significant damage and is uninhabitable.

Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command have established a crime scene and commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fire, which is being treated as suspicious.

As inquiries continue, anyone with information, CCTV, dashcam or mobile footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
