UNF celebrates Fall 2024 Commencement

Today, 937 undergraduate students and 269 graduate students are expected to earn their diplomas from the University of North Florida during the Fall 2024 commencement ceremonies at the UNF Arena.

Graduates range in age from 18 to 66, they come from 19 countries, 30% are the first generation in their families to attend college, many have a 4.0 GPA and about 100 are connected to the military. Degrees will be awarded from 92 different combinations of majors in total.

Graduates from the following colleges will move directly into careers with notable companies including:

  • Brooks College of Health: Ascension, AdventHealth, Baptist Wolfsons Children's Hospital, the Florida Department of Health, Mayo Clinic, Brooks Rehabilitation and AdventHealth
  • College of Arts & Sciences: Dolphin Pointe Healthcare Center, Morgan & Morgan, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Jacksonville, VyStar, Windward Amelia Island Marina, City of Jacksonville and the Florida Department of Correction
  • Coggin College of Business: CSX, Crowley, Deloitte, Fidelity, Pivot CPAs, the Education Office of the Embassy of Spain, Florida Blue and PLS Logistics
  • College of Education & Human Services: Florida School for the Deaf and Blind, River City Science Academy and Children First, Inc.
  • College of Computing, Engineering & Construction: Mercedes Benz, Hensel Phelps Construction, City of Jacksonville and FIS Global

The Senior Service Award is presented by the UNF Alumni Association to one graduating senior each semester for their outstanding service to the University and community through volunteerism. This year's recipient is Bethley Luctama.

Luctama is graduating from UNF's College of Arts and Sciences with dual bachelor's degrees in political science and English. Luctama has volunteered over 100 hours toward community service initiatives with UNF legal clinics, civic engagement initiatives and other projects servicing communities across Northeast Florida. She intends to become an immigration lawyer after graduation to help within the American immigration system. Among many service projects, she attended legal clinics and volunteered with Florida Legal Services, clients, translators and attorneys to help others in the community in drafting forms for displaced Ukrainian immigrants. She also served as an Osprey Community Ambassador and democracy fellow on campus and hosted, organized and planned nonpartisan civic engagement events promoting voter participation amongst the student body. She has aspirations to help establish an early voting site on campus to encourage further civic engagement. She participated in student clubs such as the Black Student Union, Haitian cultural club Rasine Kreyol, Honors Student Union, and For A Black Girl. She is diligent, driven and compassionate as a changemaker and public servant to Northeast Florida and beyond.

The 1,206 UNF Class of Fall 2024 anticipated graduates will bring the Osprey alumni nation total to 114,097 and total degrees awarded by UNF to 98,865 bachelor's, 24,187 master's and 1,663 doctorates since opening in 1972.
