Youth Violence Strike Force Makes On-Site Arrest and Recovers Firearm in Dorchester.

At about 11:30 PM, on Friday, June 28th, 2024, Officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force (YVSF) and Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit recovered a firearm and arrested a juvenile for multiple firearm offenses at 94 Armandine St, Dorchester.

Officers were on patrol when they heard a radio call broadcasted for a large fight near 51 Edson St, Dorchester. Officers made their way towards Edson St. and Armandine St. where they observed a loud disturbance stretching over multiple blocks. As Officers canvassed the area for individuals who needed assistance, their attention was drawn to an overtly hypervigilant individual who was wearing a surgical mask and adjusting his waistband area more than five times.

Officers approached this individual to speak with him and he fled from them in a full sprint while clutching his waistband. After running down Armandine St, he eventually fell onto the pavement and Officers were able to contact him. Officers observed him clutching his waistband and a brief struggle ensued as he resisted Officers commands while gripping a firearm in his hand. Officers eventually were able to gain control of his hands and place him in custody.

YVSF Detectives responded and determined the firearm was a black 9mm P80 Ghost gun with one (1) 9mm cartridge loaded into the chamber and a high-capacity magazine loaded with fourteen (14) 9mm cartridges.

The juvenile was arrested and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court for the charges of Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License, Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Possessing a Firearm Without an FID Card, and Possessing Ammunition Without an FID Card.
