3rd Update: Fourth Suspect Arrested, Charged in 2022 Fatal Shooting at 8228 Swiss Lane

August 30, 2024- Charges have been filed against a fourth suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 8228 Swiss Lane about 7:30 p.m. on June 15, 2022.

The suspect, Moses Deshaun Reed, 32, is charged with capital murder in the 339th State District Court. A March booking photo of Reed, who is in custody, is attached to this news release.

Two other suspects, Shane Henry, 20, and Christian Miller, 17, are also charged with capital murder in the 174th State District Court. A booking photo of Henry is attached to this news release. As he was 16 at the time of the incident, Miller's booking photo is not releasable.

A second juvenile suspect, 16, has been referred to Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities on a capital murder charge. Juvenile suspect information is not releasable.

All are accused in the death of Anthony Merchant, 59.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Watson and Detectives R. Waterwall, A. Dudley, and K. Heaverlo reported:

Officers were dispatched to a shooting call outside the residence at the above address and found Mr. Merchant unresponsive in the street. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics transported Merchant to HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake where he was pronounced deceased. The unknown suspect(s) fled the scene before officers arrived.

Further investigation identified Henry as a suspect in this case and arrested and, on October 12, 2022 he was subsequently arrested and charged for his role in this case.

Additional investigation identified two juvenile suspects and, at that time, they were referred to Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities on a capital murder charge.

One of the juveniles - Miller - was certified as an adult on March 15, and he was transferred to the Harris County Jail.

The investigation also identified Reed as a suspect and he was charged for his role in the incident on August 27, 2024. Reed was already in custody on unrelated charges.
