City of Knoxville offices will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 24, and Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024, for the Christmas holiday, and Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025, for New Year's Day.
Closures include the 311/211 Center for Service Innovation. Residents can make a 311 request any time by using the MyKnoxville smartphone app. A list of social services and community resources for food, housing, mental health assistance, etc., is available on the app and online at TN211.org. If you are experiencing an emergency, call 911.
Residents should be aware of these other closures and adjusted schedules:
• On Tuesday, Dec. 24, Knoxville Area Transit's LIFT service will operate on a Sunday schedule, and the Knoxville Station Customer Service Counter will be open 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. KAT will be closed with no service on Wednesdays, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, 2025.
• There will be no household garbage or recycling collection on Dec. 25, and Waste Connections' office will be closed. Wednesday routes will be picked up Thursday, Thursday routes will be picked up Friday, and Friday routes will be collected on Saturday. Regular trash/recycling schedules will resume for Monday, Dec. 30.
• Downtown trash and recycling will not be picked up on Dec. 25.
• Properly bagged excess holiday household trash and broken-down cardboard set next to full garbage carts will be picked up between Thursday, Dec. 26, and Friday, Jan. 3, 2025.
• The City's five recycling centers will be open over the holiday, however the Goodwill station will be staffed for household goods donations for a half-day on Tuesday, Dec. 24, and wholly unstaffed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Please don't leave household goods at unattended centers.
• The Solid Waste Facility at 1033 Elm Street will be closed Dec. 24, 25 and Jan. 1.
