WAC Hercules Tire Basketball Tournament details finalized

STEPHENVILLE, Texas - The Western Athletic Conference revealed the details for the 2025 Hercules Tire Basketball Tournament March 11-15.

For the first time since the Texans joined the WAC in 2020, all teams earn a spot for the WAC Tournament. The opening round game between the No. 8 and No. 9 seeds will be played at Burns Arena in St. George, Utah on March 11. Remaining games March 12-15 will once again be played at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas for the 15th consecutive year.
The WAC returned to the nine-team format for the first time since 2009 and was previously featured in 1985-91, 2001, 2003 and 2007-09 on the men's side. The women's tournament hosted nine teams in 2001 and 2006-09.
The winner of the opening round games will face the No. 1 seed in the quarterfinals on March 12 at the Orleans Arena. The No. 2 seed will take on the No. 7 seed in an additional quarterfinal matchup on March 12. Winners from those game will have a day off before playing in the semifinals on March 14. The quarterfinal winners of the No. 4 seed vs. No. 5 seed and No. 3 seed vs. No. 6 seed contests on March 13 will be the other semifinalists.
The 2025 Hercules Tires WAC Basketball Tournament championship games are scheduled to be played on March 15.

In the second year of three-time national champion coach Bill Brock, Tarleton Women's Basketball is carrying momentum sustained from the previous season. The Texans coming off its first postseason conference tournament appearance and win at the NCAA Division I level. Winning three of their final four regular season games to qualify for the WAC Tournament in Las Vegas, the Texans defeated in-state rival Abilene Christian for its first WAC Tournament win and their first conference tournament win in five years.

Last season, Tarleton Men's Basketball notched 16 WAC victories, the most conference wins in a single season in program history. Tarleton swept six of its ten WAC opponents and was one of two WAC schools to beat each opponent at least once. The Texans reached the WAC Semifinals for the first time in program history before earning a bid to the CIT, finishing the year with 25 wins.
