Ludington's Invasive Species Study

Invasive Alert: Ludington's Top 3 Plant Invaders Identified!

CISMA, with support from AARPA funds allocated by the City of Ludington, has recently completed a major survey of invasive species in our area. The results are in, and three significant invaders have been identified across hundreds of properties:

Oriental Bittersweet - Found on 486 parcels
Tree of Heaven - Found on 465 parcels
Japanese Knotweed - Found on 24 parcels

These invasive species pose a serious threat to our local ecosystem, and action is being taken! A comprehensive plan for treatment and eradication is being developed this winter, with treatment set to begin in the summer of 2025.
