PALOS VERDES, CA (October 28, 2024) - Cox Communications and its parent company Cox Enterprises have donated a total of $20,000 to four nonprofit organizations in Palos Verdes amid the ongoing land movement crisis.

From Cox Communications, the American Red Cross received $10,000 and the Palos Verdes Peninsula Rotary Foundation received $5,000 in support of residents in the Rolling Hills and Ranchos Palos Verdes communities that have been impacted by exacerbated land movement since late 2023.

Last month, Cox Enterprises' national sustainability program, Cox Conserves, granted $5,000 to the Palos Verdes Land Conservancy. Additionally, Cox Communications' Market Vice President Colleen Dillaway and other Cox employees volunteered to help the Conservancy plant 100 plants at the White Point Nature Preserve on the peninsula.

"We recognize how difficult this environmental disaster has been on our customers, and we continue to work diligently both with internal and external stakeholders to keep as many households as possible connected," said Dillaway. "These organizations are doing important work every day in the community, and we are honored to support their efforts during these uncertain times."

The funds donated to the Rotary will support supplies and necessities for residents whose homes are impacted by land movement and utility shutoffs. And the Red Cross funds will support emergency preparedness and preparations for activating shelter resources should the need arise.

"The City of Rancho Palos Verdes appreciates Cox Communications' charitable donations made to assist our residents most in need and help build community resilience to this ongoing land movement disaster. We thank Cox for staying engaged and supporting our local nonprofits who have stepped up in response to the emergency at hand," said Mayor John Cruikshank.

"Both the City and our residents are going to extraordinary lengths to deal with the circumstances facing us," said Rolling Hills Mayor Leah Mirsch. "We are grateful for Cox Communications' contribution to the organizations that are supporting those most in need."
