U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly Presents Village of Rantoul with $540,000 for Youth Center Upgrades

Rantoul, Ill. -Congresswoman Robin Kelly (IL-02) presented $540,000 in federal funding to the Rantoul Youth Center. This funding will help the Center make critical upgrades to its kitchen preparation and serving area, relocate the freezers and refrigerators, finish the main dining room, and update the offices and the gym. The Rantoul Youth Center operates a Summer Food Program to provide meals to children during the school break.

"Every child deserves a place in their community where they can discover mentors, play with their friends and receive a nutritious meal," saidCongresswoman Robin Kelly. "I am proud to have worked closely with the Village of Rantoul to invest in the young people of this community."

"The Village of Rantoul is fortunate to have a progressive working relationship with Congresswoman Robin Kelly. She and her staff are a valuable asset in helping us to provide excellent services to the youth of this community," saidMayor Charles Smith. "This financial contribution will provide meaningful improvements that will enhance the quality of services that the Village of Rantoul provides."

"We have been able to provide food, fun, and educational opportunities for Rantoul's youth for three decades in this facility, but the building had grown tired and no longer met the demands and needs of today," said Andy Graham, Assistant Parks and Recreation Director. "Through Congresswoman Kelly's commitment, we were able to upgrade the facility to serve more residents than in the past, provide more opportunities than ever before, and meet how kids learn and play today. This funding helps us feed more youth, reduces the food insecurities in our community, and grows the health and wellness of our community."
