Yesterday, representatives from Charleston County ACT Force presented at the International Deflect and Pre-Arrest Diversion Summit in Seattle, Washington.
North Charleston Police Department Opioid Prevention Coordinator Shelby Joffrion, along with representatives from the Mount Pleasant Police Department, WakeUp Carolina, Charleston County Coroner's Office, and the HOPE Center shared the story of how hard work and collaboration among a vast network is helping the most vulnerable in our county.
Among the topics shared, we spoke on how the innovative program, Critical Incident Management Systems (CIMS), has helped to reduce overdoses and address at-risk behaviors in our area and lead to proactive approaches.
Of course this coalition continues to grow, and most recently has lead to the expansion of Wake Carolina into Berkeley County and the expansion of CIMS into Dorchester County.
Together we can and will continue to provide awareness and education, reduce overdoses, and expand access to services in our area with a goal to expand statewide.
