New Brunswick High School Students Receive Warm Welcome

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (September 9, 2024) - New Brunswick High School students were greeted with an enthusiastic welcome as they returned to school for the 2024-2025 academic year. A crowd of local officials, school administrators, city employees, and residents lined Roosevelt Avenue, cheering, clapping, and hooting as students arrived.

Cheerleaders chanted slogans, the school mascot danced and pranced, and the marching band filled the air with lively music. The students were met with words of encouragement and high-fives as they passed through the welcoming lines.

The idea for this annual welcome back event originated from Keith Jones II, the director of the city's Department of Human and Community Services. Inspired by similar initiatives, Jones sought to create a positive and uplifting experience for the students.

Several local dignitaries, including Board of Education President Jennifer Sevilla, Vice President Ivan Adorno, City Council members Petra Gaskins and Matthew Ferguson, New Brunswick Police Deputy Chief Michael Bobadilla, Rutgers Vice Chancellor Salvador Mena, and Bishop George Searight from Abundant Life Family Worship Church, joined in the festivities.

The event created a positive and memorable start to the new school year for the students of New Brunswick High School.
