Goat yoga brings relaxation to LU

Lamar University students took a break from Homecoming excitement on Friday, Oct 11, with a goat yoga session, offering a unique blend of relaxation and fun. The event, held once a semester, has become a popular way for students to unwind.

For many students, this was their first experience with goat yoga, a lighthearted take on traditional yoga that incorporates goats wandering among the participants.

"I've done yoga before, but never with goats, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I thought, why not?" Carolina Hernandez, American Sign Language junior said. "It's a different way to relax, and it's cool that Lamar brings these kinds of events to campus."

Psychology freshman Anyah Boyd shared a similar sentiment. " I don't know of any university that does events like this," she said. "It's fun and definitely something you don't see at every school."

The session was led by yoga instructor Emily Singer, who has become familiar with the enthusiasm of Lamar's students. "Coming to Lamar University is always fun," Singer said. "The students here are really open to trying new things, they have a lot of fun with it, and they're honestly pretty funny. Goat yoga just seems to bring that out."

Goat yoga, which has grown in popularity across the country, respite for students during the academic year. The event serves as a reminder to students to take time to relax and recharge.
