Baruch College is proud to be named as a Fulbright HSI (Hispanic-Serving Institution) Leader for 2024, marking the second consecutive year to be selected.
The U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) annually recognizes select HSIs for their strong engagement with the Fulbright Program, the U.S. government's flagship international academic exchange program.
This year, Baruch is among only 51 recognized colleges and universities nationwide to receive this designation, including seven associate colleges, five baccalaureate colleges and special focus institutions, 10 master's colleges and universities, and 29 doctoral universities.
This latest distinction adds to Baruch College's list of Fullbright recognitions.
Last year, alumna Daniela Toribio (BA '21) was one of two Baruch students who earned a Fulbright Award. With the Fulbright Mexico Binational Business Award, Daniella will learn about business communities in Mexico, an enriching experience on her career path to be an international trade policymaker. In 2022-23, Baruch College was named a top producer for Fulbright U.S. Students and Scholars by the Department of State. The College is among only three institutions to be awarded this dual designation in the Master's degree category.
Baruch College was recognized as a top producer of the Fulbright U.S. Student Program in 2023 and 2024, and during the 2020-21 academic year, Baruch was named a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program Top Producer Institution.
Fulbright HSI Leader status is based on participation across the range of Fulbright awards and on-campus engagement. During the 2023-24 program year, two Baruch College students won Fulbright awards.
According to the Department of State, all HSI's "exemplify a deep commitment to international exchange and to building lasting connections between people of the United States and the people of other countries."
The Office of National & Prestigious Fellowships Advising supports students who want to explore Fulbright opportunities. The staff can also advise them on other programs, such as Jeannette K. Watson Fellowship, Gilman International Scholarship, Freeman-ASIA scholarships, Venture for America, Public Policy International Affairs Fellowship, and many more.
The Fulbright Program is the U.S. Government's flagship international academic exchange program with a longstanding commitment to diversity, working to ensure that participants reflect the United States and societies abroad. The Fulbright Program works closely with the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities to promote international exchange opportunities for staff, students and faculty at Hispanic-Serving Institutions.
Since 1946, the Fulbright Program has provided more than 400,000 students, scholars, artists and teachers the opportunity to study, teach and conduct research abroad. Fulbrighters build connections, gain experience, exchange ideas and address global challenges.
