NJ SPOTLIGHT NEWS LAUNCHES “NJ DECIDES 2024: PARTY GAMES” YOUTUBE SERIES IN WHICH YOUNG VOTERS DISCUSS KEY ISSUES

October 2, 2024 - NEWARK, NJ - In partnership with America Amplified, NJ Spotlight News, the newsroom of NJ PBS, is launching a new digital series, NJ Decides 2024: Party Games, talking with young voters about some of their biggest issues in this election cycle. Participants between the ages of 18 -27 who represent both sides of the political aisle share why they're passionate about an issue and why it's driving them to the polls on Nov. 5. They chat while playing the game of Jenga, which has questions incorporated onto its blocks that enhance the discussion. The goal: not to debate or an argue but to cultivate thoughtful conversation. The anticipated four-part series kicks off with a conversation about climate change, which drops today on the NJ Spotlight News YouTube channel.

"One of the biggest elections in our lifetime is just a few weeks away," said NJ Spotlight News Managing Editor John McAlpin. "In 2020 and 2022, voters under 30 made up 21% of the electorate. We wanted to hear their perspectives on issues, but in a productive and relaxed setting. And what's more relaxed than a chat while playing a party game?"

Participants are sought for future segments. Young voters who are passionate about any of the upcoming Party Games topics of women's rights, foreign affairs or the economy should email [email protected] to be considered for an upcoming segment. #NJSpotlightNews #AmericaAmplified
