And do your students also get enough space to express their perspectives? A group of master's students in Earth Sciences found this lacking and therefore founded the collective Diverse and Inclusive Values for Earth Sciences (DIVES).

This student collective offers an open and safe space where lecturers and students can respectfully share their, sometimes conflicting, opinions. Additionally, they provide valuable tips & tricks to lecturers to promote this openness. "Thanks to DIVES, both students and lecturers feel safer and more appreciated, which leads to broader perspectives, livelier debates, and a richer learning experience. A lack of diversity in perspectives can lead to superficial discussions or even a hostile atmosphere," says a student.

Other master's programmes are now setting up their own 'DIVES'. Do you want to know more about the impact of the collective and what it can mean for VU? Read the full article.
