Ogden, Utah - Ben Nadolski, Mayor of Ogden, is pleased to recommend the appointment of Jacob Sube as the new Chief of Police, effective pending advice and consent of the City Council. Sube, a 23-year veteran of the Ogden City Police Department and lifelong resident of the Ogden and the greater Ogden area, has served the community in various leadership roles, including Deputy Chief of Police since June 2021. His extensive experience, strategic vision, and dedication to enhancing police-community relations make him the ideal choice to lead the department.

"Jacob Sube's compassion and deep respect for all people of Ogden was shaped by his experience growing up under challenging circumstances on Ogden Avenue. His personal background in combination with his extensive experience within the Ogden Police Department make him uniquely qualified to lead our city's law enforcement efforts," said Ogden Mayor, Ben Nadolski.

Sube's nomination follows a distinguished career in which he has managed critical aspects of the department, including overseeing the $28-million police budget, leading the response to critical incidents, and enhancing police-community relations through proactive engagement. As Deputy Chief, Sube provided strategic leadership for both Field Operations and Support Services, served as Acting Chief of Police, and played a key role in the development and implementation of the department's Strategic Plan.

Sube's previous roles include Police Captain, overseeing both Support Services and Field Operations, and Commander of a multi-jurisdictional Strike Force. He has demonstrated exceptional leadership in managing large-scale investigations, developing departmental policies, and collaborating with federal and state agencies such as the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosive, Drug Enforcement Administration, and Homeland Security Investigations.

In addition to his extensive law enforcement experience, Sube holds a Master of Science in Management and Leadership and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Western Governors University. He is also a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy.

Throughout his career, Sube's commitment to excellence has produced numerous recognitions. His accolades include the Distinguished Service Award, OPBA Police Officer of the Year, State of Utah Gang Investigator of the Year, and the Ogden Police Medal of Merit, among others.

"I am deeply honored to have the opportunity to serve as the Chief of Police for the city I have dedicated nearly 24 years of my career to," said Sube. "Throughout my career, I have adhered to the highest standards of integrity and accountability, fostering an environment where our officers are well-equipped and motivated to deliver the highest standard of service. As Chief, I am committed to enhancing our relationships with the community, elected officials, and other agencies, with a particular focus on building stronger connections with our youth. By fostering trust and understanding with the younger generation, I aim to create a safer, more connected community while continuing to advance our department's strategic direction."
