SCTE TechExpo 24 commences next week in Atlanta, and this year the conference will feature NCTA leaders who will discuss the latest innovation advances and key policy challenges facing the industry. \

Below are just a few panels looking at the critical issues that NCTA, cable broadband experts, and engineers will explore at the largest cable tradeshow in the Americas.

NCTA Brings Tech Policy Expertise to TechExpo

This year, NCTA is co-hosting the Technology Policy Track, which is designed to provide a better understanding of government and industry priorities. The track is bringing together government officials and industry leaders to explore public policy developments in areas such as spectrum, broadband, artificial intelligence, and security. NCTA's tech policy experts that will be speaking at panels include:

Where in the World are Broadband Programs Now?

  • NCTA's Vice President and Associate General Counsel Pamela Arluk and other industry experts will discuss how initiatives such as BEAD, ACP, and state-specific programs running at the same time can create opportunities and challenges for stakeholders.

National Spectrum Strategy Multi-Stakeholder Process and Status

  • Traci Biswese, NCTA's Vice President and Associate General Counsel, and other federal agency experts explore the National Spectrum Strategy's key components, including timelines, responsible agencies, and stakeholder engagement regarding the lower 3 GHz and 7 GHz bands.

GenAI: Risks and Benefits

  • Artificial intelligence continues to raise many new public policy questions, none with easy answers. NCTA's Deputy Chief Legal Officer Russell Hanser joins the panel of government and academic experts to address the cutting-edge policy issues raised by GenAI, discussing how to harness this technology's many benefits best while mitigating or eliminating risks.

Cybersecurity 2025: What Should We Expect?

  • As daily life becomes even more connected, security only becomes more important. In 2024, cybersecurity is at the core of most tech policy conversations. NCTA's Vice President and Deputy General Counsel Loretta Polk and other leading industry voices will delve into the issue.

Wireless and Convergence

Dr. Rikin Thakker, NCTA's Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of Technology, will moderate a session focused on connectivity for the enterprise customer. The session is broken into two parts, with Cox's Principal Architect Jeff Hales presenting on the challenges and potential solutions to deploying IoT in a multi-dwelling setting, and Comcast Principal Engineer Robert Jaksa presenting on the company's next-gen wireless connectivity solutions at The Players Championship.

Special Screening of "Every Last Mile"

NCTA is also hosting a special event screening of its docufilm "Every Last Mile" which chronicles the physical and operational challenges that three construction crews faced as they tackled the daunting work of extending broadband some of America's most rural areas.
