Tegucigalpa, November 14, 2024 - From November 19 to 21, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) will be the venue for the XXVII Meeting of the Transparency and Access to Information Network (RTA), a key event that will bring together authorities from 18 Ibero-American countries and international organizations working to ensure transparency and access to information. The meeting aims to promote dialogue, cooperation and the exchange of knowledge and experiences among its members to strengthen openness and greater accountability through access to information.
CABEI Executive President, Gisela Sanchez, said: "CABEI is honored to be the first multilateral institution to host the RTA Meeting. This event reaffirms our commitment to transparency and openness as key components to drive positive transformation in the region. As a Bank, our mission is to promote sustainable economic development, and we know that transparency is fundamental to generate confidence in our countries".
A relevant activity that will be held within the framework of this meeting will be the international seminar " Transparency with Purpose, Effective Development: Fighting Poverty through Access to Information", which will feature high-level participants, including the President of the Republic of Guatemala, Bernardo Arévalo; former President of Uruguay, Julio María Sanguinetti; former President of the Dominican Republic, Milagros Ortiz Bosch; as well as representatives from international organizations such as the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Andean Development Corporation (CAF), the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and the World Bank. These leaders will share their experience in transparency and access to information, reinforcing the common commitment to promote effective development and the fight against poverty in Latin America.
During the Meeting, among other activities, the Bank will hold a round table discussion with RTA experts with the objective of receiving inputs for the creation of its next open data strategy and effective communication of the information resulting from CABEI's new Access to information policy which will become effective in June 2025.
The Transparency and Access to Information Network (RTA), established in 2011, brings together authorities from 18 Ibero-American countries responsible for guaranteeing the right of access to public information. Its mission is to promote transparency, citizen participation and accountability, with the aim of contributing to the strengthening of democracy and institutional openness in the region. CABEI's membership in the RTA allows for the exchange of knowledge and the consolidation of best practices in transparency, in addition to strengthening the implementation of its Access to Information Policy, which is essential for forging closer relations with leading institutions in this field.
