Palmdale Hosts Disaster Preparedness Expo

PALMDALE, CA - The City of Palmdale invites residents to its Disaster Preparedness Expo on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Legacy Commons, located at 930 E. Ave. Q-9. The event features emergency preparedness demonstrations, valuable information and resources, exciting giveaways and engaging activities. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with emergency management agencies and their partners.

Hands-on activities include CPR training, learning lifts, carries and techniques to keep yourself and neighbors safe during a disaster, and the opportunity to sign up for a "Stop the Bleed" class. These practical skills can make a crucial difference in emergency situations.

Disaster-related giveaways may include fire extinguishers, first aid kits, solar-powered battery chargers, emergency shut-off tools and weather radios. Attendees can also enter to win a grand prize of a 60-serving emergency food supply kit with a shelf life of 15+ years.

"I encourage all residents to attend this vital event to learn, prepare and contribute to building a stronger, more resilient community," said Mayor Austin Bishop.

The drop-in experience allows flexible attendance, with demonstrations repeating throughout the three-hour period. Participants can arrive anytime between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. to fully engage with the expo.

"Preparedness is key to mitigating the impact of any disaster," said Mayor Pro Tem Richard J. Loa. "This expo not only provides valuable information but also brings our community together in a shared commitment to safety. I look forward to seeing our residents actively engage with this important message."

Community partners and vendors offering disaster preparedness services are invited to join us. Interested organizations can apply at www.CityOfPalmdaleCA.gov/DisasterPrepardnessVendors.
