Construction Continues to Repair Embankment Erosion on U.S. 322 (West Chester Bypass) in West Goshen Township

King of Prussia, PA- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction continues on a $2.2 million project to repair the existing roadway embankment erosion on eastbound U.S. 322 (West Chester Bypass) between the Penn Drive overpass and Phoenixville Pike in West Goshen Township, Chester County.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

• Wednesday, July 24, through Thursday, August 8, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a weekday lane closure is scheduled on Monday through Thursday on westbound U.S. 322 (West Chester Bypass) between the Penn Drive overpass and Phoenixville Pike.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Under this project, PennDOT's contractor will repair the slope failure on northbound U.S. 322 (West Chester Bypass), which was eroded by a branch of Taylor Run caused by the remnants of Hurricane Ida 2021.

Construction activities include installing a 150-foot retaining wall along the base of the failed slope to stabilize the existing roadway embankment; reconstructing the deteriorated roadway shoulder; milling and paving the existing roadway along the retaining wall; replacing guiderail; improving stormwater drainage; and installing riprap material for scour protection.

Lobar Site Development Corporation of Dillsburg, York County, is the general contractor on this project, which is financed with 80 percent federal funds and 20 percent state funds.
