Fischer Joins “Mornings With Maria” To Discuss Assassination Attempt Against President Trump, Vice President Harris’ Policy Flip-Flops

U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) joined Maria Bartiromo on Fox Business today to discuss the second assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump in just over two months. Senator Fischer condemned Vice President Kamala Harris' incendiary rhetoric against President Trump and called for tighter security around the former president.

Senator Fischer also discussed securing America's elections through the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act and Vice President Harris' backtrack on a fracking ban.

On Vice President Harris' Policy Flip-Flops:
"I think it's very plain that Vice President Harris has always been in favor of banning fracking. That was her position when she was a United States Senator. If you recall, she has the most liberal voting record during her time in the Senate. She was very clear on that during the debates when she ran for president, that she would ban fracking. She didn't back away from that.

"She's not listening to anybody in Pennsylvania on it, like the Governor of Pennsylvania said. What she's listening to are the polls, and that's why she flip-flops on every single issue. Whether it's fracking, whether it's EVs, whether it's government-run health insurance, she's backed away from that. She wants to defund the police, she backs away from that.

"So, she just is trying to get elected and fool the American people, and that just isn't going to happen."

On Mainstream Media's Failure to Hold Vice President Harris Accountable:
"But the issue is, Maria, the mainstream media. They don't pressure her. She doesn't speak to them, she doesn't give interviews.

"But when she did have a debate, it was never followed up by the moderators of that debate, just where she really, really stood on issues. They let her get away with a lot of stuff."
On Protecting President Trump from Further Assassination Attempts:
"Well, first of all, we have to get to the root of the problem. And we haven't seen that investigation yet from the first attempt on the president's life. We have to make sure that he does have the security that he needs.

"He is a candidate for president. He is a former president, and it really bears investigating how these attempts-in 64 days, two attempts-can happen on his life. To be able to protect a person who is trying to run again, trying to be elected as president, is extremely important. And we need to make sure that he has the protection that he needs."

On Democrats' Incendiary Rhetoric:
"He does need more protection, especially when we see folks on the other side of the aisle. For example, the vice president, in the debate, made the comment about how President Trump is a threat to democracy-the biggest threat to democracy since the Civil War.

"What kind of rhetoric is that, for anyone, but especially for the sitting Vice President, to attack a person like that and increase the threat to his safety?

"We've got to tone down this rhetoric and make sure, as I said again, we've got to tone it down. We've got to make sure that he has the protection that he needs, right?"

On Securing America's Elections:
"You know, it's just common sense. We need to vote on the SAVE Act. How can anybody be against that? It is the law that only citizens vote in this country. So, we should have to be able to show that we're a citizen of this country in order to vote.

"I doubt if Schumer puts it up, and what's he afraid of? Why would this be a bad vote for Democrats? It's a good vote for all of us in the Senate to be able to say yes, we believe in the law that all citizens should vote."
