In line with its 'Trust Your Spark' spirit to realise commitment to sustainable financing

Indonesia, 12 Aug 2024 - As a purpose-driven bank, Bank DBS Indonesia is committed to advancing the sustainability agenda, especially in the area of sustainable financing. Throughout 2023, around Rp6.1 trillion in sustainable funds were channeled to various environmental, social, and governance (ESG)-based strategic projects to encourage industries to transition towards a green economy. The bank has received multiple awards, both domestically and internationally, in recognition of its achievement. Recently, Bank DBS Indonesia received an award at Euromoney's Awards for Excellence 2024 in the category of "Best Bank for ESG in Indonesia". In addition, Bank DBS Indonesia also won the 2024 Katadata Green Initiatives Awards in the Finance category for a third consecutive year.

Through its Institutional Banking Group (IBG) unit, Bank DBS Indonesia builds customer trust as a trusted advisor for sustainable financing for companies that want to transition to green energy with various financial solutions such as sustainable loans, sustainability-linked bonds, and transition financing in several growth sectors such as real estate, the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem, infrastructure, and renewable energy. Through its sustainable finance services, Bank DBS Indonesia in 2023 provided financing for, among others, PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (PT SMI) to fund sustainable infrastructure projects in Indonesia; PT Indomobil Sukses Internasional to support the acceleration of the purchase of electric vehicles that emit less carbon dioxide, thus supporting the realisation of the green economy; and to PT TBS Energi Utama Tbk to finance the acquisition of Asia Medical Enviro Services, a startup company and the largest provider of medical waste treatment services in Singapore.

In addition, in the first semester of 2024, Bank DBS Indonesia provided several sustainable financing facilities for, among others:
  • PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PT PNM), which receivedRp1 trillion worth of financing for the MEKAAR (Membina Ekonomi Keluarga Sejahtera) programme. Through this financing, Bank DBS Indonesia supports the growth of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia, particularly MSMEs led by women entrepreneurs.
  • PT Indo-Rama Synthetics Tbk, which received USD10 million worth of financing to support its sustainability agenda. The funding from Bank DBS Indonesia will be used to finance the development of infrastructure that will connect the factory complex with the national grid as part of energy transition and to improve energy efficiency.
  • PT Kaer Investments Indonesia, which received Bank DBS Indonesia's support for the growth of the Cooling as a Service business model used to accelerate the transition to low-carbon cooling offered by Kaer.
Service Digitalisation to Optimise Engagement

To provide a joyful banking experience for customers in accordance with the 'Live more, Bank less' principle, Bank DBS Indonesia also builds customer trust by improving the digitalisation of services. This includes the digibank by DBS application, which makes it easy for customers to perform transactions 24/7 and is supported by Artificial Intelligence-based facilities such as the Live Chat feature that supports customer service.

The technological innovations developed by Bank DBS Indonesia have earned the bank several awards in Infobank Digital Brand Recognition 2024 that covers several categories, such as The Best Bank with Digital Services - KBMI 2; 2nd Best Conventional Commercial Bank 2024 - KBMI 2; and five other categories. In addition, Bank DBS Indonesia was named The 1st Best - Chatbot; The 1st Best - Live Chat; The 2nd Best - Call Center; The 2nd Best Overall Best Digital Service in Excellent Service; and two other categories in the Infobank Best Bank in Service Excellence 2024 award.

Bank DBS Indonesia recently received a prestigious international award at HR Asia Awards 2024 as "Best Companies to Work for in Asia", as well as an award at SWA HR Excellence Awards 2024 in the categories of Learning & Development (L&D) and Knowledge Management with a 'Very Good' score; HR Digitisation & People Analytics with an 'Excellent' score; and Wellbeing Management with an 'Excellent' score.
