Retired Clarksville firefighter donates photographic train memorabilia to City of Clarksville

On Friday, Aug. 30, 2024, Willie Wright -- retired from Clarksville Fire Rescueafter 33 years -- stopped by City Hall to very kindly present a collection of photographic Clarksville train memorabilia to Mayor Joe Pitts and the City of Clarksvillefor permanent safekeeping.

In his earlier career, Mr. Wright worked for Illinois Central Railroad, and has a love for train history, especially as it pertains to Clarksville.

He explained that three railroad lines once ran through Clarksville -- Illinois Central, L&N, and Tennessee Central.

The City and Clarksville Parks and Recreationhave been renovating the historic L&N Train Station on 10th Street.
