Agency to host federal leaders in broadband, digital equity practitioners, and ConnectHomeUSA Sites
WASHINGTON - The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will host the 2024 ConnectHomeUSA Summit from December 10-12th. This hybrid event will convene representatives from ConnectHomeUSA Sites from across the country, along with federal broadband leaders and organizations from various sectors to discuss solutions for narrowing the digital divide in HUD-assisted communities. ConnectHomeUSA is a vital resource in advancing digital access for HUD-assisted communities. Earlier this year ConnectHomeUSA expanded and onboarded 97 new communities which include Public Housing Authorities, Multi-Family owners and operators, Tribes/Tribally Designated Entities, and HUD Continuum of Care and Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS grantees.
This year HUD will present the inaugural ConnectHomeUSA Trailblazer Award, established to recognize communities that have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to digital equity. HUD is proud to announce the recipients of this year's award: the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh.
"HUD is committed to advancing digital access to the people who need it the most. We are proud to acknowledge the work of our partners who are bridging the gap in affordable broadband internet," said HUD Agency Head, The Honorable Adrianne Todman. "The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh are two communities that have worked tirelessly to make sure families in their communities are connected to the digital tools they need to thrive."
