Celebration at LINC Library highlights Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology
GREELEY, Colo. - The City of Greeley invites students and the community to celebrate GIS Day on Wednesday, November 20, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the LINC Library, 501 8th Avenue. The event will focus on the importance of GIS technology and its impact on various fields, from urban planning to environmental conservation.
People celebrate GIS Day worldwide to raise awareness about the power of GIS technology in tackling challenges across industries by supporting informed decisions based on spatial data. The event also highlights the diverse career paths in GIS, from cartographers and geospatial analysis to environmental consultants and urban planners. Attendees can talk to presenters who are studying or pursuing a career in GIS.
"As we gather to celebrate GIS Day, we hope to inspire the next generation of GIS professionals," said Victoria Leonhardt, Senior Urban Transportation Planner for the City of Greeley. "GIS offers a variety of career paths. And it's an essential tool for solving complex issues facing our communities today."
