New Jersey Department of Health Proposes New Rules at N.J.A.C. 8:43H Establishing Rehabilitation Hospital Licensing Standards

The New Jersey Department of Health, with the approval of the Health Care Administration Board, is proposing new rules at N.J.A.C. 8;43H to establish standards for licensure of comprehensive rehabilitation hospitals. Comprehensive rehabilitation hospitals provide intensive rehabilitation therapy services and specialized integrated care to enable patients who have diseases or injuries that impair functioning to reach an attainable degree of independence, in accordance with a care plan that an interdisciplinary care team customizes to the needs of each patient.

The notice of proposal appears in the July 1, 2024, issue of the New Jersey Register. Persons wishing to comment on the proposal must submit written comments either (1) electronically by August 30, 2024, ‎to www.nj.gov/health/legal/ecomments.shtml; or (2) by regular mail postmarked by August 30, 2024, to Kimberly E. Jenkins, Director, Office of Legal and Regulatory Compliance, New Jersey Department of Health, PO Box 360, Trenton, NJ 08625-0360.
