LBPD Blotter - Nov. 1, 2024

As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department's homepage and on the "News" tab of the Department's website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here's a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Shooting - 300 block of West 14th Street - On Oct. 31, 2024 at approximately 9:47 p.m., officers responded to a local hospital to contact a 16-year-old male receiving treatment for a gunshot wound. Officers learned that the victim was standing on the sidewalk on the 300 block of West 14th Street when he heard gunshots and was struck in his upper body. Family transported him to the hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury. Officers located a crime scene. Suspect information and motive remain under investigation.

  • Shooting - 800 block of Via Wanda - On Oct. 31, 2024, at approximately 11:06 p.m., officers were dispatched to a report of gunshots in the area of the 800 block of Via Wanda. Upon arrival, officers located a crime scene and evidence of a shooting, but they were unable to locate any victim(s) or suspect(s). While officers were investigating the scene, a male adult victim with a gunshot wound self-transported to a local hospital. Officers contacted him and learned that he sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his lower body, and it is believed to have occurred during this shooting incident. Suspect information and motive remain under investigation.

  • Stabbing - 6900 block of Orcutt Avenue - On Oct. 31, 2024, at approximately 11:17 p.m., officers were dispatched to a stabbing in the 6900 block of Orcutt Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim with stab wounds to his upper body. LBFD responded and transported the victim to a local hospital with non-life-threatening wounds. The suspect was gone prior to officers' arrival. The preliminary investigation indicates a male adult suspect, believed to be experiencing homelessness, stabbed the male adult victim, also experiencing homelessness, while he was asleep. The motive remains under investigation.

  • Shooting - Unknown Location - On Nov. 1, 2024 at approximately 1:53 a.m., officers were dispatched to a local hospital to a contact a female adult victim receiving treatment for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her lower body. The victim reported that she was in the area of Artesia Boulevard and Downey Avenue when she was struck by a gunfire. Officers were unable to locate a crime scene. The location of the shooting, suspect information, and motive remain under investigation.

  • Assault - 200 block of Pine Avenue - On Nov. 1, 2024 at about 2:09 a.m., officers responded to a battery in the 200 block of Pine Avenue. The preliminary investigation indicates a male adult victim was assaulted by male suspect(s). The suspect(s) fled before officers arrived. The victim sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital. Suspect information and motive remain under investigation.
