Rockville Police Investigate Shooting

On August 2, 2024, shortly before 4:30 p.m., the Rockville City Police Department and Montgomery County Fire Rescue Services responded to the 400 block of College Parkway for a shooting. The first arriving units found an adult male, outside of a residence, suffering from a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he remains in critical condition.

During the incident and out of an abundance caution, Montgomery College's Rockville campus was put in a lockdown status. There is no evidence to believe the shooting is connected to Montgomery College and the college has since resumed normal operations. RCPD officials have been in contact with Montgomery College Public Safety staff throughout the incident. Rockville City Police detectives are on the scene and have assumed the criminal investigation, which is ongoing at this hour. The public can expect an increased police presence in the College Gardens community throughout the evening.
