This session will explain how you can benefit from a full series of courses to maximize your learning potential. You will discuss and share experiences and strategies with your peers and learn to complete a comprehensive learning experience for the digital environment. By completing the Digital Bootcamp series, you will obtain your Brightspace Essentials or Advance Training Course for Instructors certificate and badge, one (1) of our Quality Matters (QM) course offerings, obtaining a certificate and receive a Digital Bootcamp certificate and badge as a gate-keeping criterion for instructors new to teaching online at Georgia College & State University.

Brightspace Advanced Training Course for Instructors

In this two (2) day certificated training, you will elevate your online teaching proficiency with the Brightspace Advanced Training Course for Instructors. Designed for those who have mastered the basics, this advanced course delves deeper into the powerful features of the Brightspace Learning Management System (LMS). Learn to create and manage student groups, set special access parameters, and utilize intelligent agents for automated course management. Academic Affairs Small Grants Program

Are you interested in applying for one of the grants being offered by Academic Affairs? Are you wanting support and guidance for preparing and submitting your Academic Affairs Small Grant? Join Jim Berger and Kadian Leslie to learn steps for completing the application and receive guidance on what can be included and what to leave out. Even if you are not sure you want to apply to the programs, this session can help you think about the process and potential projects. Each of the sections will be discussed, rubrics for the different types of grants will be provided and tips on how to create a more successful application will be covered. These grant programs are open to all full-time faculty (Instructors, lecturers, tenure, tenure-track and non-tenure). Handouts will be provided, and resources will be shared.

Roadmap Workshop - Liberal Arts Skills in the Professions and Personal Wellbeing

In this workshop, we will look at ways to intentionally highlight how your classes develop your students' problem-solving skills. Our panel of faculty from across the university will share how they employ various pedagogical practices that draw on problem-based learning. Sharing our interdisciplinary insights, our goal is that participants will learn how to effectively and seamlessly plan and then implement aspects of problem solving in their own unique courses that prepare students for the diverse professions they plan to pursue after graduation and beyond. Active Learning 102

Advance your teaching skills with this stipend-certificated offering, Active Learning 102, designed to deepen your understanding and application of active learning strategies tailored to your specific content area. Building on the foundations established in Active Learning 101, this course empowers educators to locate and evaluate content-relevant information, apply research-based active learning methods and analyze instructional improvements. Through research, practical application and evaluation of methodologies, you will enhance your ability to create impactful, student-centered learning experiences. This course is ideal for instructors looking to refine and expand their active learning techniques. Active Learning 102 provides the tools and insights needed to elevate your classroom practice. Join us and take the next step in your professional development journey. Completion of Active Learning 101 is a prerequisite. There will be two (2) in-person meetings, the first to launch the cohort and the second for debriefing. The scheduled meetings are on August 16, 2024, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. and Dec. 17, 2024, from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The sessions are both held in our CTL Learning Space, Library, room 376. If you decide to participate in this fall '24 cohort, please ensure you can attend both in-person meetings.
