Downtown Burbank Selected as 2024 LA Daily News Reader's Choice Award for Best Downtown

Burbank, CA (August 6, 2024) - The City of Burbank is excited to announce that Downtown Burbank was chosen as the Best Downtown as part of the LA Daily News Annual Reader's Choice Awards for 2024.

Downtown Burbank was selected for this award through the Best of LA - Reader's Choice Awards online voting system. The 2024 voting period ran from March 28 to April 28. Anyone with a valid email address could vote in over 300 categories by submitting in their choice for that category. From nearly 50,000 votes cast, Downtown Burbank was chosen as the 2024 winner.

"This recognition from LA Daily News is an incredible honor, made even more meaningful by the fact that it was based on votes from the public," said Mayor Nick Schultz. "The Downtown Burbank Property Based Business Improvement District (PBID) Board and the City have worked tirelessly to enhance the visitor experience in Downtown Burbank. We invite more people to come by and see what we have to offer, from our amazing restaurants and retail shops to our popular year-round events."

The recognition supports the City's impactful investment in its downtown coupled with more than $18 million in private funding from the Downtown Burbank PBID for the past 21 years. This commitment has resulted in a vibrant neighborhood for locals and visitors.

The Downtown Burbank PBID has made significant investments to enhance the visitor experience, including adding outdoor dining parklets, year-round ambient lighting, annual holiday décor, and weekly events. The Burbank City Council recently invested $1 million for replanting, deep cleaning, and overall improvements. The area also hosts a variety of events like the Downtown Burbank Cultural Market, weekly Farmer's Market, Downtown Arts Festival, Comedy Festival, Winter Wine Walk and the Elephant Parade now on display through August 31st. Additionally, the Hospitality and Social Outreach Program features Downtown Burbank Ambassadors who address issues with street performers, homelessness, and safety.
