AHN to Host Two Cancer Screening Events in September

Allegheny Health Network (AHN) Cancer Institute is proud to announce two upcoming cancer screening events designed to empower the community to take proactive steps toward early detection and prevention. Both events are open to AHN and non-AHN patients.

Strike Out Cancer with the Pittsburgh Pirates and SportsNet Pittsburgh

On Saturday, Sept. 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., AHN will partner with the Pittsburgh Pirates and SportsNet Pittsburgh for a special "Strike Out Cancer" screening event at PNC Park. The event will offer screenings for colorectal, head and neck, prostate, and skin cancer. Participants will also receive two free tickets to a future Pirates game with $5 loaded on each ticket for in-park purchases.

AHN Grove City Hospital Screening Event

On Saturday, Sept. 14, AHN Grove City (631 N. Broad St. Ext., Grove City, PA 16127) will host a comprehensive cancer screening event for the community. Patients may receive up to seven screenings for breast cancer, cervical cancer, colorectal cancer, head and neck cancers, lung cancer, prostate cancer, and skin cancer.

Appointments are required for the Grove City event and can be made by calling 412-359-6665.

"Early detection is crucial in the fight against cancer," said James Betler, DO, AHN radiation oncologist and director of AHN's cancer screening program. "These events provide a convenient and accessible opportunity for individuals to get screened and take control of their health."

Additional Screening Opportunities

The AHN Cancer Institute has offered one-stop comprehensive cancer screenings since 2014. The program's success and need for prevention and early detection in the region has led to the cancer screening program being offered monthly on Saturdays across Western Pennsylvania for the last three years.

Future screening events will be held at AHN Saint Vincent in Erie on Oct. 12, AHN Cancer Institute - Hempfield on Nov. 16, and AHN Cancer Institute - Jefferson on Dec. 7.

The need for convenient and frequent cancer screenings has also led to the newly opened weekday comprehensive cancer screening clinic at Jefferson Hospital (Tuesdays) and Forbes Hospital (Wednesdays). Patients can call 412-325-9015 to schedule an appointment for the Jefferson and Forbes weekly screenings.
