Troop C DWI arrests August 15- August 21, 2024

On August 15, 2024, at approximately 2:24 p.m., New York State Police at Sidney arrested Eric R. Dodge, age 30 of Norwich, NY for the misdemeanors of Driving While Ability Impaired and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree. A Trooper observed a vehicle with no New York State inspection sticker while on East Main Street in the village of Sidney and initiated a traffic stop. While interviewing Dodge, the Trooper immediately observed characteristics associated with impairment. Dodge performed Standardized Field Sobriety Tests poorly and was arrested. He was additionally evaluated by a New York State Police Drug Recognition Expert. Dodge was also found in possession of suspected illicit drugs. Dodge was processed and issued appearance tickets to the Sidney Village Court on September 10, 2024.

On August 16, 2024, at approximately 8:32 p.m., New York State Police at Oneonta arrested Samantha M. McDonald, age 33 of Oneonta, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Impaired by Drugs. Troopers went to check on two people who were reportedly "slumped over" in their vehicle while at Mirabito in Oneonta. By the time Troopers arrived the vehicle left the area. Troopes located the described vehicle on Evening Hill Road in Milford. While interviewing McDonald, a Trooper observed impairment. After an investigation, McDonald was arrested. McDonald was subsequently evaluated by a New York State Police Drug Recognition Expert at SP Oneonta. She was processed and issued appearance tickets to Milford Town Court on September 10, 2024. McDonald and her passenger were both turned over to Oneonta Police due to having existing warrants.

On August 16, 2024, at approximately 10:30 p.m., New York State Police at Richfield Springs arrested Brianna L. Weeks, age 24 of Oneonta, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated. While working at a DWI Sobriety Checkpoint on Main Street in Oneonta, a Trooper observed a vehicle make an illegal u-turn just prior to the checkpoint and other vehicle and traffic infractions. A traffic stop was conducted on Market Street. While interviewing Weeks, the Trooper smelled an odor of an alcoholic beverage and other characteristics associated with impairment. After performing Standardized Field Sobriety Tests poorly, Weeks was arrested. She was transported to SP Oneonta where here reportable B.A.C was .15%. Weeks was processed and issued appearance tickets to the Oneonta City Court on September 18, 2024, then turned over to a sober third party.

On August 16, 2024, at approximately 10:58 p.m., New York State Police at Oneonta arrested Heather E. Graig, age 34 of Oneonta, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated. Graig entered a DWI Sobriety Checkpoint on Main Street in Oneonta when a Trooper smelled an odor of an alcoholic beverage and other characteristics associated with impairment. After performing Standardized Field Sobriety Tests poorly, Graig was arrested. She was transported to SP Oneonta where her reportable B.A.C was .13%. Graig was issued appearance tickets to the Oneonta Town Court on September 17, 2024, then turned over to a sober third party.

On August 16, 2024, at approximately 11:23 p.m., New York State Police at Richfield Springs arrested Timothy Dresser, age 36 of Oneonta, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated. Dresser entered a DWI Sobriety Checkpoint on Main Street Oneonta when a Trooper smelled an odor of an alcoholic beverage and other characteristics associated with impairment. Dresser was asked to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which indicated impairment. Dresser was arrested and transported to SP Oneonta where his reportable B.A.C was .10%. He was issued appearance tickets to the Oneonta City Court on August 29, 2024, and released to a sober third party.

On August 17, 2024, at approximately 12:30 a.m., New York State Police at Oneonta arrested Brandon W. Fancher, age 23 of Cobleskill, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated. While on roving patrol during a DWI Sobriety Checkpoint, a Sergeant observed a vehicle speeding while on Main Street in Oneonta and made a traffic stop. While interviewing Fancher, the Sergeant smelled an odor of an alcoholic beverage and observed other characteristics associated with impairment. Fancher was asked to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which were indicative of impairment. Fancher was arrested and transported to SP Oneonta, where his reportable B.A.C was .09%. Fancher was processed and issued appearance tickets to the Oneonta Town Court on September 3, 2024.

On August 17, 2024, at approximately 9:50 p.m., New York State Police at Endwell arrested Melecio D. Berganza Morales, age 37 of Endicott, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated. While monitoring traffic on George F. Highway in Union, a Trooper observed a vehicle speeding and other vehicle and traffic infractions and made a traffic stop. While interviewing Berganza Morales, the Trooper observed characteristics commonly associated with alcohol impairment. Berganza Morales performed Standardized Field Sobriety Tests poorly and was arrested. He was transported to SP Endwell where his reportable B.A.C was .12%. Berganza Morales was processed and issued appearance tickets to the Union Town Court on September 10, 2024, then turned over to a sober third party.

On August 18, 2024, at approximately 12:00 a.m., New York State Police at Binghamton arrested Aiden G. Mapp, age 19 of Vestal, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs. Mapp entered a DWI Sobriety Checkpoint on the exit 6 on-ramp to Interstate 81 south from Upper Front Street when a Trooper observed characteristics commonly associated with impairment. Mapp was asked to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which were indicative of impairment. He was arrested and transported to SP Binghamton. Mapp was processed and issued appearance tickets to the Chenango Town Court on September 25, 2024, then turned over to a sober third party.

On August 19, 2024, at approximately 5:14 p.m., New York State Police at Margaretville arrested Jodi Alvarez, age 47 of Margaretville, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs. Troopers were dispatched by the Delaware County 911 Center to a single vehicle crashed and went approximately 150 feet down a ditch off Close Hollow Road. Alvarez was located at her residence and interviewed. A Trooper determined that Alvarez was impaired and had driven her vehicle impaired. Alvarez was arrested and processed at SP Margaretville. She was issued appearance tickets to the Middletown Town Court on September 10, 2024, and released to a sober third party.

On August 19, 2024, at approximately 7:23 p.m., New York State Police at Sidney arrested Brenson D. Rudolph, age 62 of Binghamton, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs. Troopers received a 911 complaint from the Chenango County 911 Center about an erratic operator traveling on Interstate 88 in Afton and heading eastbound. Troopers spotted the vehicle that was described by the 911 caller and observed the vehicle speeding and several other vehicle and traffic infractions. A traffic stop was initiated along I-88 in Sidney. Troopers observed that a passenger was having a medical emergency. Sidney EMS did respond to the scene and transported the passenger. While speaking with Rudolph, Troopers observed that he appeared impaired and Troopers also learned that Rudolph struck a median wall while in Broome County. After performing Standardized Field Sobriety Tests poorly, Rudolph was arrested. He was transported to SP Sidney where he was additionally evaluated by a New York State Police Drug Recognition Expert. Rudolph was issued appearance tickets to Sidney Town Court on September 26, 2024, then released to a sober third party.

On August 20, 2024, at approximately 8:57 a.m., New York State Police at Margaretville arrested Tiffany L. Dumond, age 39 Roxbury, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated. Troopers were dispatched by the Delaware County 911 Center to the report of a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 30 in Roxbury. An investigation at the scene revealed that Dumond was traveling north on State Highway 30 when she struck a parked vehicle. While interviewing Dumond, a Trooper smelled an odor of an alcoholic beverage and observed other characteristics associated with impairment. After performing Standardized Field Sobriety Tests poorly, Dumond was arrested. She was transported to SP Margaretville where her reportable B.A.C was .16%. She was processed and issued appearance tickets to the Roxbury Town Court on October 2, 2024, then released to a sober third party.

On August 21, 2024, at approximately 3:00 p.m., New York State Police at Binghamton arrested Kasey J. Kozlowski, age 26 of Plattsburgh, NY for the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated. A Trooper was dispatched to a report of a vehicle that struck another vehicle and left the scene on near Route 79 in Windsor. The Trooper located Kozlowski and his vehicle on Main Street near Chapel Street in the village of Windsor. After an investigation at the scene, Kozlowski was arrested for DWI. He was transported to SP Binghamton where his reportable B.A.C was .16%. Kozlowski was processed and issued appearance tickets to the Windsor Town Court on September 3, 2024, then turned over to a sober third party.

On August 21, 2024, at approximately 1:40 p.m., New York State Police at Homer with the assistance of the Troop "C" Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit (CVEU) arrested William Harris, age 52 of Richmond, VA was charged with the class "D" felony of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree and the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated in a Commercial Vehicle. Members of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit were at the Preble Rest Stop on Interstate 81 northbound for a commercial vehicle check where all operators of commercial vehicles are directed to enter for an inspection. They observed a tractor trailer attempt to bypass the inspection at the rest stop. Troopers from CVEU stopped the driver and upon an interview believed he may be intoxicated. A Trooper from SP Homer responded to the location and asked Harris to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which positively indicated impairment. Harris was arrested. Troopers also located an assault weapon in his possession, which is not compliant with the New York State SAFE Act. Harris was processed at SP Homer where his reportable B.A.C was .09%. Harris was later transported to the Cortland County Correctional Facility for Centralized Arraignment.
