  • On August 2, the NOPD arrested Jude West (white male, DOB: 10-13-1992) in the investigation of a fatal hit-and-run vehicle crash that occurred on July 12, 2024, at the intersection of Earhart Boulevard and North Claiborne Avenue. West was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on one count of hit-and-run driving with death or serious injury, as well as on one count of obstruction of justice.
  • On July 30, the NOPD arrested David Jackson (black male, DOB: 06-19-1992) on animal cruelty charges. While executing an unrelated search warrant in the 7800 block of Sail Street, detectives discovered an emaciated male dog in the backyard of the residence. The dog appeared severely malnourished, and there was no dog food on the property. Also, the dog did not have access to fresh water. Upon closer inspection, they discovered the skeletal remains of a second dog inside a nearby kennel. LASPCA agents were immediately called to the scene. Jackson was arrested on charges of felony animal cruelty. The Louisiana SPCA has taken custody of the dog.
