Engaging millions in mass protest, not violence, is the path to social change

The apparent assassination attempt on Donald Trump that resulted in the death of one person and the injury of others is sure to deepen the country's political crisis.

We know only too well the consequence of the assassinations of political figures. As we said many times the CPUSA rejects violence and terror: they only serve the interests of the forces of hate and division.

In these difficult times we call on our members and friends to remain vigilant and resist provocation from any source as the country recovers from the aftermath of the shooting. We remain committed to non-violent forms of struggle as we continue to work address the main issues before the U.S. public: the Gaza genocide, climate change, abortion, voting and immigrant rights, health care, police violence and equality for all.

Awakening Martin Luther King Jr's dream and tradition of engaging millions in mass protest is the road to real change, peace and progress.
