On November 22, 2024, at approximately 7:50 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of an assault on a transit supervisor at Fort/Graham.

Officers from the Downtown Foot Patrol Unit were proactively in the area when they were alerted to this incident.

The supervisor reported that when the bus stopped at Fort/Graham, he boarded the bus in response to a male who had been sleeping on the bus for several hours. He woke the man, who then exited the bus. However, once outside, the man created a torch using a can of hairspray and a lighter. He aimed the weapon at the supervisor, who managed to push him to the ground and disarm him.

Police arrived and took the male into custody, and the supervisor was not injured.

A 23-year-old male, Andrew Lawton HORZEMPA, of Winnipeg, was charged with Assault with a Weapon and detained in custody.
