Happy Energy Efficiency Day!

Today, October 2, is Energy Efficiency Day!

Energy efficiency is the most cost-effective tool for lowering energy bills and embracing sustainability at home.

To get started, the Town encourages residents and businesses to receive a no-cost Mass Save energy audit. During an assessment, an energy specialist will take a tour of your home or business and share energy and money-saving ideas, which include additional rebates toward qualifying energy-efficient equipment, such as air-source heat pumps. In-person assessments are recommended every three years and are now being scheduled for Monday, October 28 through Friday, November 1. Sign up for your no-cost Home Energy Assessment today!

Additionally, new energy efficiency, electric vehicle & renewable energy incentives are now available through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).to reduce the cost of increasing energy efficiency through various measures, such as weatherization, distributed energy resources (solar PV and batteries) and various forms of electrification, including high-efficiency heat pumps, induction cooktops, heat pump hot water heaters and electrical upgrades.

The Act reinstituted and increased the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit, which allows households to credit up to 30% of the cost of energy efficiency home upgrades against their taxes. This credit can total up to $1,200 per year for weatherization and up to $2,000 for electric heat pumps and heat pump water heaters, which can be claimed in addition to Mass Save rebates.
