Interstate 70 Lane Restrictions Tuesday and Wednesday in Westmoreland County

​Uniontown, PA - Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing that single-lane restrictions on Interstate 70 are scheduled for Tuesday, July 23, and Wednesday, July 24, between Exit 46A/46B (Route 51) and Exit 49 (Smithton) in Rostraver Township, Westmoreland County.

The daytime restrictions will be in both directions from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. All work depends on weather and operations.

Crews from Geronimo Painting will be working on containment for the Matthew Smelser Memorial Bridge over the Youghiogheny River.

This work is part of the $120.6 million Interstate 70 Project involving the widening and reconstruction of Interstate 70 along with the reconstruction of the Route 51 Interchange (Exit 46) to replace it with a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI). To accommodate the new interchange, the plans include one mile of reconstruction and widening on Route 51, and several intersecting roadways, including the relocation of Finley Road and Route 981. The project is anticipated to be complete in October 2027.
