"Chefs in Town" turns the city of Düsseldorf upside down in culinary terms for an entire weekend. The ambition: to inspire people and spark enthusiasm for the city's gastronomy and hotel scene. The patron of the format is Heiko Antoniewicz, one of Germany's most important top chefs and author of over 20 cookbooks. Due to the two-day Rolling Pin.Convention gastronomy trade event that follows immediately afterwards, not only celebrity chefs but also visitors from all over the German-speaking world are expected in Düsseldorf. Strong partners have joined forces to organise "Chefs in Town", including METRO, the City of Düsseldorf, the Düsseldorf Chamber of Industry and Commerce, DEHOGA Nordrhein and Coca-Cola. Many other partners and allies ensure that the event develops radiance and puts Düsseldorf's gastronomy at the centre of public interest. Dr Steffen Greubel, CEO of METRO AG: "As METRO, we took the initiative for 'Chefs in Town' and brought the partners involved together to jointly develop the idea for the event. It is an innovative concept that has succeeded in bringing many top chefs from all over the country to Düsseldorf and bringing them together with the local gastronomy. It's never been done before in this form and on this scale, and that fills us with pride!"
The event is based on three programme pillars:
"Chefs in Town" not only aims to establish itself as an annual event highlight in the German festival scene, but is also another milestone for Düsseldorf on its way to becoming a German gastronomy hotspot. It is about more than just pure enjoyment, as it celebrates culinary creativity without ignoring craftsmanship and entrepreneurship. In this way, all those involved support the local gastronomy and hotel community in the long term: the combination of "Chefs in Town" and the Rolling Pin.Convention strengthens the local gastronomy and hotel industry, puts the people behind it in the spotlight and brings professionals and guests closer together.
The Düsseldorf gastronomy summer is far from over with "Chefs in Town". After extremely successful years in Berlin, Rolling Pin.Convention Germany is moving to Düsseldorf. It was founded in 2014 by the gastronomy magazine Rolling Pin and is now the second largest food and gastronomy symposium in Europe after Fusion Madrid. Over 10,000 chefs, sommeliers, talents and top decision-makers from the German gastronomy industry will meet at Areal Böhler from 30 September to 1 October, where over 60 of the best and most creative chefs, sommeliers and experts from Argentina, Taiwan, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and England will present their latest dishes, techniques and trends and share their ideas and philosophies in unique cooking demonstrations, masterclasses and talks. The unique annual summit is rounded off by a 6,000 m²interactive expo, where the most exciting and innovative suppliers and producers present their new products for the catering industry. Jürgen Pichler, Rolling Pin CEO and Founder: "The Rolling Pin.Convention is to the gastronomy industry what prêt-à-porter shows are to the fashion world: The place where the best and most creative in the industry share their ideas and philosophies and present the latest trends. In addition, talents can experience live what fantastic opportunities and career prospects the wonderful world of gastronomy has to offer."
