A man will appear in court charged over an alleged pursuit and other matters in the state's Central West.
About 1.50am yesterday (Sunday 10 November 2024), officers from Orana Mid-Western Police District attempted to stop a vehicle on Warne Street, Wellington, due to its manner of driving. When the vehicle failed to stop as directed a pursuit was initiated.
It will be alleged that the vehicle was pursued to Dubbo where road spikes were successfully deployed along the Mitchell Highway.
The vehicle was followed to Myall Street, Dubbo, where it allegedly drove directly at a police vehicle, causing officers to take evasive action.
For safety reason the pursuit was terminated.
Officers located the vehicle abandoned along Darling Street about 2.20am after it collided with a parked trailer.
A short time later, police arrested a 31-year-old man after a foot pursuit along Myall Street. During the arrest the man allegedly attempted to head-butt an officer.
In the vicinity of where the man was found, officers allegedly located and seized a small amount of methylamphetamine.
Police will also allege that implements consistent with forcing entry into cars were also located in the vehicle.
Inquiries established that the vehicle was allegedly unregistered/uninsured and the man was an unlicensed driver.
He was taken to Dubbo Police Station before later being taken under police guard to Dubbo Base Hospital
Upon release, he was taken to Dubbo Police Station and charged with 10 offences including:
