Interstate 70 Lane Restrictions Monday and Tuesday in Westmoreland County

​Uniontown, PA - Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing that single-lane restrictions on Interstate 70 eastbound and westbound are scheduled for Monday, August 12 and Tuesday, August 13 between Exit 49 (Smithton) and Exits 46A/46B (Route 51) in Rostraver Township, Westmoreland County.

The daytime restrictions will be from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. All work depends on weather and operations.

Crews from Geronimo Painting will be working on the containment on the Matthew Smelser Memorial Bridge.

This work is part of the $120.6 million Interstate 70 Project involving the widening and reconstruction of Interstate 70 along with the reconstruction of the Route 51 Interchange (Exit 46) to replace it with a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI). To accommodate the new interchange, the plans include one mile of reconstruction and widening on Route 51, and several intersecting roadways, including the relocation of Finley Road and Route 981. The project is anticipated to be complete in October 2027.
