PLA delegation wins 18 medals at 4th CISM World Cadet Games

BEIJING, Aug. 22-- The 4th CISM World Cadet Games are in full swing. The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) delegation has clinched five gold, four silver and nine bronze medals in such disciplines as swimming, orienteering, shooting, track and field, and military pentathlon.

On Monday morning local time, Zhu Yingying from the swimming team won the gold medal in the women's 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1'15"75, securing the first gold medal of the PLA delegation in this year's World Cadet Games. In the eight swimming events on the same day, Chinese cadets won one gold, one silver and six bronze medals.

On Monday morning local time, the middle and long-distance race of orienteering was held in a park. The PLA orienteering team, organized by the PLA Army Academy of Artillery and Air Defense, won the gold medal in the women's team event and the silver medal in the men's team event.

On Monday local time, the PLA shooting team achieved notable results in all four team events, winning two gold and two silver medals.

The track and field events kicked off on Monday local time at the Brigido Iriarte National Stadium, Venezuela. In the women's 100m final, Li Jinming delivered an outstanding performance to secure the bronze medal. The 4x400m mixed relay team fought valiantly to win the bronze medal with a time of 3'54"13.

At around 9 a.m. local time on Monday, the 500m obstacle race of the military pentathlon was organized at the Fuerte Tiuna military base in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela. The PLA delegation swept the top three positions in the women's individual 500m obstacle race.
