Mandela Day 2024

Today, we commemorate Nelson Mandela's extraordinary legacy, a true inspiration. His lifelong dedication to justice, equality, and freedom inspires change and unites people worldwide.

The theme for Nelson Mandela International Day is" It is still in our hands to combat poverty and inequity." Grindrod teams supported this theme by volunteering to pack meals in Richards Bay and Durban, taking a stand against hunger.

The events organised by Rise Against Hunger led to the packing of over 50,000 meals, proudly sponsored by Grindrod.

About 120 volunteers from various divisions within Grindrod, demonstrated our unity and collaborative spirit, worked in five shifts (including one in Richards Bay) and four in Durban to pack the nutritious meals.

The Rise Against Hunger team ensured that the production lines ran smoothly-from scooping the correct quantities of various ingredients into the meal bags to weighing the bags, sealing them, and packing them ready for distribution.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the Grindrod volunteers and the dedicated Rise Against Hunger team for their unwavering commitment and hard work in making this event a success.
