Penn State Altoona forward Avana Sayles, of Venetia, was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Player of the Week in women's basketball on Monday, Dec. 2.
NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. - Penn State Altoona forward Avana Sayles, of Venetia, was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Player of the Week in women's basketball on Monday, Dec. 2.
Sayles led the way for the Lions in their 68-61 victory on the road over AMCC rival Mount Aloysius College on Nov. 26, in the teams' conference opener. She tied for the game high in points with 18, matched her team's high in rebounds with nine, and added two steals, one block, and one assist.

Through seven games this season, Sayles leads the AMCC in field goals made (44) while ranking second in points (104), third in blocks (8) and blocks per game (1.1), fifth in rebounds (56), and sixth in points per game (14.9). This is her second career AMCC Player of the Week award.
Penn State Altoona women's basketball is 3-4 overall, including 1-0 in the AMCC. The Lions travel for their next game, facing conference foe Pitt-Greensburg on Dec. 4.
